Reply to Alan Holman: About Dealing With Cancer
Dear Alan
Just read your story. It’s interesting how different folks can come across different stuff, yet end up concluding the ’same’ basic things from access to a variety of sources. I have written articles for my own websites about cancer in the last few years and it would certainly seem that your ‘erratic’ journey has led you to access so useful ’strategies’ to try whilst seeking to reduce the impact and hopefully overcome cancer.
In case it is of any interest, and as a riposte to your own ‘out of the blue’ article I send you my thoughts for what they may be worth.
Firstly: I have come to see ‘cancer’ as a symptom not a disease per se.
I’ll explain why. Cancer is often thought of as the development of tumour of fast growing ‘mutated cells’. In fact I now believe that the tumour ’shell’ is a ‘coat’ that the body throws around the cells that are growing in a ’sick’ way. But whay do cells start to grow in a ’sick’ way? There are numerous answers for this – but one critical one is that in our typicaly depleted and often poor/inadequate diet that most of us in the west consume today we end up, as you are now aware, becoming ‘overly acidic’. These acidic conditions encourage the growth of organisms that can cause all sorts of physical ailments – yet under proper control in a pH balanced body these sa,e organisms are simple, and necessary, organisms that play their role in all round good health. One prime ‘culprit’, it appears, may be Candida albicans. In normal gut conditions Candida is an essential and normal part of the lower colon flora. But given ‘unhealthy’ internal conditions Candida can over-grow and then it can potentially become a serious problem.
As you may know Candida causes thrush, an inflamed condition that can occur in many areas around the body (though most commonly in the vagina, on the penis, or in the throat and mouth). But it also happens to love any warm, moist poorly oxygenated conditions that may exist from anywhere such as skin-folds on the external body, to warm moist folds between the internal organs. When a system is out-of-balance (including as a part of this being over-acidic) then Candida can thrive, and is particularly dangerous if it is enabled, through deteriorating gut-health, to penetrate the gut lining (leaky gut syndrome) and get into the bloodstream and establish colonies around the internal organs….
(On a side note here: two people you ‘must’ have come across but do not mention:
Dr Robert Young – whose whole premise is that all illness is rooted in over acidity. He has helped many latter stage and supposed terminal cancer patients reduce their discomfort, prolong their lives, and even cure their condition (way after ‘modern medicine’ would have given the last rites). His whole regimen (and of coures the products he recommends and those he has developed) is all about getting properly alkalised and getting whole-health back.
Dr Tulio Simonici – you must also have come across as he is the primary promoter of the Sodium Bicarbonate ‘cure’ for cancer (althogh you don’t mention him). He sluices tumors for a period of days with sodium bicarb solution and apparently to dramatic curative effect. All this of course is to ‘kill off’ Candida albicans which he claims is the ’cause’ of cancer and the cause of tumour growth!
If you do not know these people then you would have to Google for more information, read and make your own mind up about their ideas. My personal opinion is that they may each have ‘part of the puzzle’ but by no means, necessarily, the total solution!)
In my own ‘research’ I have come to understand that Candida thrives in oxygen reduced, moist areas… when you are over-acidic your internal environment, and as a consequence your cells, are generally low in vital oxygen. In vulnerable areas Candida becomes well established – and when body cells are ‘enveloped’ by a carbon dioxide rich atmosphere you would expect them to die (suffocate) BUT it would seem that instead of ‘dying’ a primal self-protection mechanism cuts in and cells can ‘revert’ to the type of anerobic activity that all cells once exhibited before the Earth became an oxygen-rich planet. This primitive survival mechanism for the cell means that the ‘cell’ survives (a primal instinct) BUT in so doing it is ‘recognized’ as sick by the body which walls the cell off in thickened ‘coat’ that is diagnosed medically as a tumor! And of course when this happens cancer has begun…
There is an important implication in this though – that just as ‘internal environment’ has caused the triggering mechanism that makes cells start to ‘grow’ in a primitive anerobic fashion, if the right things are done, this process can be reversed – and of course this is what you and your dad have begun to achieve..
But the issue seems to be to me that you are still looking at the ‘treatment’ protocol in a piecemeal way. You try this, you try that, you double the dose here, you jump about to try this and that supplement or idea… etc etc… I recognize the ‘desire’ to try anything in your ‘desperation’, although it makes it very hard to ‘know’ what amongst all the strategies is actually having most impact and waht is actually ’surplus to requirements’.
I would suggest that, in many (if not all) cases the whole process of development of cancer is one of a holistic nature, to do with the ‘long term’ sickening of the body and the gradual deterioration of the internal environment, and then in turn the cells themselves. As the body’s ‘nutrition transport’ system starts to go into ‘gridlock’ the scenario is set for rapid deterioration of health and manifestation of all sorts of ‘disease’ — essentially the ’symptoms’ of a body out-of-proper-natural-harmony. That is to say when the ‘blood’ becomes so ‘dirty’ with pollutants — such as yeasts, other micro-organsims, other unnatural chemical constituents (acquired from diet, air and body product absorbed through the skin) — then the blood cells become ’sticky’ and less motile, and the transit of oxygen and nutrients to many parts of the body is impaired.
Not only can the ‘pollutants’ themsleves — in some caes — cause direct damage to cellular materials leading to ‘mutated’ behavior, these ‘toxins’ can actually stop the body’s other major ’self preservation mechanism’ from working properly — apoptosis. Apoptosis, or ‘programmed cell death’ is an inbuilt mechansim that makes a simple single cell ‘commit suicide’ when it senses it is ’sick’ (or malfunctioning in some way) and might therefore a threat to the ‘community’ — the body as a whole. This is not such a ‘bad death’ as it may seem as any useful material in the cell is recycled for future new cell growth! But when certain toxic substaces that we may acquire through daily exposure in diet, air and skin absorbtion, ‘interfere’ with apoptosis this paves the way for sick cells not only to survive but proliferate, leading to a ’symptom’ such as cancer to occur!
Critically in terms of healing the holistic aspect of treatment is a key to eventual success — this is in fact why many who do adopt ’some aspects’ of natural treatment fail to get well I the end. Just as it may have taken the body many years of ‘unwitting abuse’ to be unable to heal itself efficientsly and naturally, allowing disease to occur — it takes similar determined and long-term effort to undo and reverse such damage (although the body can still recuperate remarkably quickly given the right resources, the right emotional support and the right environment).
On another side point related to this:
You may well have also have come across the theories and successes of the Gerson Institute – Max Gerson and latterly (since his death) his daughter Charlotte, have pursued with significant success the treatment of cancerous conditions solely through dietary means.
This appears to be important – as diet is one of the (if not the) MAJOR keys to holistic treatment of cancer – as already implied by previous commentary. All of Rob Young’s material is about addressing the acid-alkali balance through diet… and while you can take all sorts of pills to try and speed the process – the daily regimen of proper hydration, and high levels of green vegetable intake, are critical to getting the balance right. For some this would also necessitate cutting out most-all protein sources (check out Gerson recommendations) and almost all fats except for the only oil that does not seem to ‘encourage’ tumor growth – flax seed oil (again see Gerson’s work).
Evidently the notion that the body has become starved of general oxygen is also important. It is critical to get cellular oxygen levels to a healthy level (this is of course part of the process of alkalization) but more than this there are some supplement that seem to help with oxygenation at cellular level. But also it is important to be practice effective breathing techniques – both specifically for parts of the day in an environment of clean air of course – and to become aware of breathing habits and techniques generally (in order to maximize natural oxygenation without hyperventilation). This might mean making sure that you are staying for a long period in an area where air pollution is very low and oxygenation is high – but if this is difficult then at least suing an in home air-purifying system PLUS having oxygen beneficial plants in all rooms and especially the bedroom is a great idea.
In the matter of oxygenation the book by so-called ‘Mr Oxygen’, is well worth looking at if you have not yet come across it – you do not seen to mention it in your letter. (Google Ed McCabe or Mr Oxygen). This makes it abundantly clear that many ill health symptoms are due to poor levels of oxygen and for me, I now believe that many cancerous conditions are simply the ultimate ’symptom’ caused by cells trying to survive in oxygen depleted territory!
Beyond this – and in respect of time and space here on Facebook – I would d#suggest that as part of the ‘holistic’ approach to overcoming and reversing cancer there is an important part t be played by the ‘mind’. I am sure you are aware of this but it is significant that when those who have tried natural treatments fail to get better it may be that whilst they took all the natural supplements, and made any necessary dietary changes, they failed to address they psycho-emotional state.
In terms of physical contamination (such as cellular level ‘pollution’) then there is also a role for significant cleansing using various techniques that I am sure you are aware of (as you speak of chelation). This must be in tune with current physical and emotional strength of course! And in respect of emotional, or psychological strength:
If you know of Prof Bruce Lipton’s work you do not mention it, but Lipton is very clear (as a cellular biologist of some note) that we have the power to change the way our very DNA works 00 for good or for ill! If we do not have our ‘head right’ then we can still see health issues cripple us and even shorten our lives. This is why it is important for your dad to clear the decks if he has not done so in terms of psychological hurdles he may be holding onto. Perhaps things from the past that still haunt him. Perhaps a general lack of positivity – as you mention how feedback from Doctors has hit him badly when he has been told ‘bad news’ (if only partial or even erroneous) by the ‘modern medicine’-men! To achieve this he may well need to actively seek some assistance in clearing any ‘blocks’ towards adopting a clean and positive platform on which to build his total belief in his future well-being.
Another interesting area that relates to the issue of psychological impacts on cancer comes to us via the theory of New German Medicine, by Dr.Ryke Geerd Hamer. Although like other ‘non-conventional’ Doctors he has been derided and lambasted – there is much evidence to suggest that past-traumatic events can become the trigger to cancerous conditions. Again simply ‘google it’ if you have not already read all this (I am sure you may have). This means that efforts to clear the impacts of any trauma may need to be taken in concert with the other steps your dad is making!
In this respect I am sure that the now widely-known concept that stress can contribute to causing cancer plays its role. Learning to combat stress and destress is equally important as oxygenating the body I would suggest! Clearing the mind of stress can perhaps be likened to clearing the body of higher than opttimal levels of carbon dioxide. As they have long said — healthy mimd, healthy body!
What is interesting – and sad – here is that the current forms of modern medicinal approach to cancer – which I am sure you have seen referred to (or recognize as) ‘Slash, Burn & Poison’ are all traumatic processes fro the body to undergo – little wonder that anyone who undergoes such ‘treatments’ may struggle to become truly healthy in the long term. ALL forms of modern cancer treatment actually potentially ’cause’ cancer!!!
Without being ‘right inside’ in all areas – that is to say getting both physical and mental environments ‘cleaned up’ – then some aspect of the holistic approach will be missing a whilst that is the case it will make the progress to complete reversal and cure of a condition like cancer, all the more difficult – and even possibly ultimately impossible. This is my personal belief.
But with all the pieces in place with diet, activity, breathing, supplementation – and with growing psychological strength gained from making positive advances in terms of remission of symptoms – then it really seems possible that we can conquer cancer, and that this knowledge is already ‘out there’ but those with too much invested in the status quo will not easily allow it to be known! Cancer is for me an ultimate symptom of (usually) long term systemic imbalance. If the infra-structure of health is regained and strengthened than there is every reason to believe that the symptoms that comprise a cancerous condition will simply reverse and disappear, in many if not all cases (given that sometimes the ‘physical’ or ‘metal’ pollution inside the body may
Good luck to you and your dad. I hope my thoughts and ideas may have been of some interest — apologies if you know all this already of course. I dashed it of quite quickly (which migt affect the logical flow in places!!) so I hope it makes sense feel free to contact me via Facebook if I have not been clear or you have a question.
