Well, much though I dislike the concept of Christmas starting in October… as it seems to do for marketing purposes… I thought I would post this video ‘early’  — albeit that it is actually 2 years overdue since its initial release.

One of today’s media phenomena must be the ‘x-factor’ shows. The general reporting on such shows constantly dominates the press while they are aired. They manage to keep many of the proles suitably distracted  — as is the only ‘real’ purpose of such banal and pointless televisual pap.

Let’s be honest… there are always a handful of pretty good singers in an x-factor ‘x-travaganza’… But, fact is, there are a lot of pretty good singers about, and a lot of pretty good musicians (that is REAL musicians) about… who NEVER get any plaudits, recognition or fame… But then that is not why they produce that rather special thing that sets humans aside from other animals — ‘music’ (ok I’m not dismissing birdsong — but they sing the songs that are ‘natively inbuilt’ — humans compose and that is something else, and something I happen to think has more meaning that any cr*p like the ‘x-factor will ever be able to convey — but then again I’m not into the idea of expounding more thoroughly about this here just now. Do  I ‘hear’ a collective ‘phew!’?)…

But this is a fun piece by some talented singers and the difficulty in doing this should not be underestimated:
